Benjamin Parth’s restaurant Stüva in Ischgl has been awarded two MICHELIN stars, confirming its status as one of Austria’s top culinary destinations.

On January 21, 2025, the eagerly awaited MICHELIN Guide Ceremony took place at Hangar-7 in Salzburg, announcing the coveted star awards across various categories for Austria’s top restaurants.

The prestigious MICHELIN Guide, known for reviewing the finest gourmet destinations worldwide, returned to Austria’s provinces for the first time since 2009. Until now, only Salzburg and Vienna were included in the city guides. This comeback was initiated by the Austrian Tourism Board and regional tourism organizations.

Benjamin Parth’s gourmet restaurant Stüva at Hotel YSCLA in Ischgl was awarded two stars in its first-ever MICHELIN review, a remarkable achievement for both the restaurant and its chef. The MICHELIN Guide is famously selective when it comes to awarding its iconic stars. “With just a few components on the plate, Benjamin Parth creates wonderfully expressive flavors. […] Dining here is a true pleasure,” reads an excerpt from the review. With its national and international accolades and now the MICHELIN recognition, Stüva ranks among Austria’s best restaurants.

“That we as a team—and my restaurant—have now been honored with two stars by the MICHELIN Guide, which is considered the global benchmark for culinary excellence, is a wonderful recognition of our work and passion,” said Benjamin Parth. During the ceremony at Hangar-7, Parth was one of the selected chefs invited to delight guests with his signature dish: char with Galtür gentian foam.

Evaluation Criteria

The MICHELIN Guide evaluates restaurants based on five globally consistent criteria, with chefs playing a central role in shaping the culinary vision and quality. The criteria include product quality, craftsmanship, originality of dishes, and consistency—both over time and across the entire menu. Evaluations are conducted annually by full-time, anonymous inspectors.

The MICHELIN Guide awards in the following categories: Bib Gourmand honors restaurants offering high-quality cuisine at reasonable prices, named after the MICHELIN mascot “Bibendum.” The Green MICHELIN Star recognizes sustainable gastronomy and can be awarded alongside or independently of regular stars. The classic red MICHELIN stars range from one to a maximum of three. Receiving one star is considered a badge of honor among chefs; two or three stars place a restaurant in the culinary elite.

The Awards

Across Tyrol, Benjamin Parth’s Stüva in Ischgl was awarded two stars, along with Restaurant 141 by Joachim Jaud in Mieming, Gourmetrestaurant Tannenhof in Sankt Anton am Arlberg, and Restaurant Schwarzer Adler in Hall. An additional 16 Tyrolean restaurants received one star each. Nationwide, two restaurants earned three stars: Steirereck in Stadtpark and Amador, both located in Vienna.

“Thanks to his top-level performance, Benjamin Parth has long been one of Austria’s best chefs. The two stars awarded by the MICHELIN Guide confirm his talent among the international culinary elite. I warmly congratulate him on this success. The impressive number of MICHELIN stars awarded to Tyrolean fine dining highlights the outstanding quality and rich culinary diversity of our region,” said Karin Seiler, Managing Director of Tirol Werbung.
