Just days after being awarded 5 toques and 19 points in the Austrian Gault&Millau Guide 2024, Ischgl’s exceptional chef Benjamin Parth has received one of the most prestigious international honors in the culinary world: the French restaurant guide La Liste—considered the gold standard of global rankings—has placed Benjamin Parth’s Gourmetrestaurant Stüva at number 4 among the world’s top 1,000 restaurants.
In the elegant setting of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris, known simply as “Le Quai d’Orsay,” the official La Liste 2024 awards ceremony took place on Monday evening during a high-profile gala dinner, where the ranking of the world’s best 1,000 restaurants was announced.
La Liste is widely regarded as “the ranking of rankings” in the global culinary scene. Even being included in its Gold category of the top 1,000 restaurants is considered a badge of honor among elite chefs. With a score of 98 out of a possible 100 points for the Gourmetrestaurant Stüva at Boutiquehotel YSCLA in Ischgl, Benjamin Parth, now 35, has officially joined the elite ranks of the world’s greatest chefs.
The sophisticated algorithm behind La Liste
Founded in 2015, La Liste is an independent French restaurant guide that doesn’t rate restaurants directly. Instead, it uses a sophisticated algorithm to analyze reviews from over 1,100 international sources—including restaurant guides, regional and national press, trade magazines, online blogs, opinions from top chefs, and guest reviews from platforms like Google, Foursquare, and Tabelog.
The underlying data covers 32,500 restaurants across 200 countries, divided into three categories: the “Red category” includes around 24,000 restaurants of various styles such as sushi bars, bistros, new openings, trendy food spots, and casual regional eateries—all with excellent culinary standards. The “Silver category” features about 7,000 restaurants with outstanding cuisine, while the “Gold category” represents the crème de la crème—the top 1,000 restaurants in the world. During the ceremony, Philippe Faure, President of La Liste, also announced the winners of the 2024 “Special Awards.” Benjamin Parth had previously received one of these honors: in 2020, La Liste awarded the then 31-year-old chef the “Young Chef Award.”
