In autumn 2014, as part of a comprehensive redesign of our restaurant area, both the Gourmetrestaurant Stüva and the half-board dining area of Hotel YSCLA were equipped with a new lighting concept by Bartenbach. This puts the culinary creations of head chef Benjamin Parth in the perfect light. A dinner at Ischgl’s top gourmet address becomes a true experience for all the senses.
“Thanks to the new lighting concept by Bartenbach, my creations and our wines are showcased even more beautifully. It’s tailored to the perfect moment of enjoyment and makes that moment even more intense for our guests,” says Benjamin Parth, head chef at Stüva. His restaurant in Ischgl, where the 27-year-old is one of Europe’s youngest chefs to hold three toques, was outfitted with a creative lighting concept by the experts at Bartenbach LichtLabor.
Innovative LED Technology
Guests are invited to celebrate enjoyment more consciously as the lighting highlights the menus and matching wines. At the heart of the project is innovative LED technology: two different types of fixtures were developed, allowing restaurant manager Sarah Falch and her team to create the perfect lighting mood for every occasion.
Hotel YSCLA, one of Ischgl’s leading hotels, aimed to replace the previously used halogen lights—which consumed a lot of energy and produced heat—without compromising light quality. Thanks to LED technology, this goal was achieved. Project manager Christoph Gapp explains: “The newly installed LED fixtures are significantly smaller, yet deliver just as much light and the desired color temperatures. Additionally, LED lights are far more durable and energy-efficient.”
Ambience at the Touch of a Button
Different fixtures were used for table lighting and wall illumination. Each is equipped with two LED points emitting warm and cool light. This technology allows for high-intensity white light during the day, while in the evening, warmer tones and lower intensity create a cozy atmosphere. “For example, in the morning during breakfast, wall lighting simulates daylight in the dining room. The reflection of white light from outside creates a dynamic mood indoors. Guests feel more energized to start their day,” says Christoph Gapp.
The goal was to create the optimal lighting ambience for both the hotel’s dining area and its in-house gourmet restaurant Stüva, where gourmets dine every evening. Lighting scenarios were saved as presets, allowing the Stüva team to switch between daytime, evening, and cleaning modes at the push of a button. The brilliant lighting enhances the presentation of the chef’s culinary creations.
“The focus is placed entirely on what matters—the dishes and the wines that accompany them. Guests can fully concentrate on what they came for, without distractions. An interesting side effect of the new lighting is that, because it’s generally brighter than in most restaurants, our guests don’t tire as quickly,” says Benjamin Parth.
Lighting 2.0
“Bartenbach’s lighting concept moves away from dim candlelight romance, even if some guests might still wish for it. But we’re taking a completely new path that aligns perfectly with our restaurant’s philosophy: purist, minimalist, and fully focused on enjoyment,” adds Benjamin Parth.
